Stars Sitting Service Limited is an organisation whose aim is to provide an online register of sitters who can offer parents and carers of children with special needs some respite from caring. The sitters can also support a child in any mainstream child care facility where specialist skills are required. The sitters are available evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Stars Sitting Service Limited has been set up by a parent of a child in Solihull with severe learning disabilities, so have first hand experience of the challenges faced in finding the right person to care for children with special needs in order that we may engage in other aspects of living.

All the sitters on the register will have undergone a stringent screening and recruitment process, including face to face interview, criminal record check, verification of identity, written references from existing place of work or study in relation to their child care experience. Written references are followed up by verbal verification. They will also meet the following criteria as a minimum;

* Currently be employed within an organisation working with children with special needs, either paid or voluntary work

* Registered childminders, nannies or qualified nursery nurses with a minimum of 6 months experience of working with children with special needs
* Students who will have undertaken as part of their studies relevant work placements in appropriate organisations working with children with special needs, with a view to gaining employment with this client group. For example trainee healthcare, social care and education professionals

Stars Sitting Service Limited acts solely as an introduction agency only; we do not take any commission fees from the service users who use the sitters. Prior to booking a sitter you agree the rate of pay with the sitter. You pay the sitter direct on completion of their booking. All sitters are self employed.
