Birmingham nanny / babysitting
carer housekeeper mothers help plus
Here is some general information about myself and the post.
Although this post isn't specifically a nanny's post it does require someone with experience with children
I have a chronic illness (ME/FMS) and am a single parent with three children aged 15, 12 and 8. We live in a small three bedroom house in Hall Green in Birmingham.
Having ME/FMS means that I have little energy. The illness is chronic but varies in severity from one day to the next. Therefore I need to limit activities in order to manage my pain and fatigue levels.
The position I am looking to fill is that of a carer/personal aid. I need assistance with most aspects of normal living as a single parent with a chronic illness.
This job is interesting and varied and requires an enthusiastic, energetic person, who is happy to work under my direction. I feel unwell, but I know what I want to do and how I want my life to run and how I want my children to be brought up. I just need someone to assist me in doing that without taking over.
Duties will include housework such as cleaning, shopping, laundry, sorting cupboards, cooking etc.
You will need to be a confident driver with a full, clean licence. You will need to be able to do school runs, escort me to medical appointments and drive the car when I need to go out.
I need help to get ready in the mornings and help throughout the day with medication, heat/cold packs going out etc.
I use a wheelchair for long distances and now have a mobility scooter.
You would need to assist with administrative duties such as making phone calls to hospitals/doctors to make/cancel appointments, calls to organisations to report faults with domestic equipment eg stair lift/washing machine etc. Also helping to record information and help with the post.
I need someone who can turn their hand to anything and is flexible and who is equally happy working unsupervised at times and under direct supervision at other times. There will be times when you would assist in family activities but other times when you would be working on a task while the family is involved in something separately.
Having worked with children or having some of your own would be an advantage, as you would need to be comfortable with a hectic family life. However, this is not a ‘sole-charge’ nanny position as I intend to be fully involved in my childrens upbringing. I need someone to do the things I can’t do but will take a backseat otherwise.
The post is open to a non-smoker who has been CRB checked for working with children. Excellent spoken English is essential.
Hours would vary but would average as 10 per day between 7am and 9pm on an agreed number of days per week to include weekend days
Pay is PAYE paid by cheque weekly in arrears. Rate of pay per hour depends on number of hours contracted to work and may be enhanced to cover costs of local accommodation if sufficient consecutive days are worked. For example if you worked three days and stayed at a local B&B your average gross salary could be £300
