Nikon Fm2, Nikon Fm cameras Nikkor lenses (£550)
One black Nikon FM2n body, one chrome FM body, MD12 motordrive, 180mm f2.8 ED Nikkor, 135mm f3.5 Nikkor, 85mm f2 Nikkor, 55mm f3.5 micro Nikkor, 50mm f.1.8 Nikkor, 28mm f2.8 Nikkor, 24mm Sigma, Nikon PK13 extension tube and Nikon eyepiece magnifier all in excellent condition. The lenses are all very sharp and have been carefully looked after - the 135mm f3.5 is the only one I would have considered replacing, with an
f2.8 because I assume that would be a better lens, but when you put it on the extension tube it makes a brilliant macro combination for flowers and dragonflies etc.. The 180mm f2.8 is almost in new condition except for a small bend on the hood when I hadn't tightened the tripod head enough! This is a lovely Nikon manual kit which I built up over a number of years: if you like using film and your brain, FMs and FM2s are hard to beat for straightforward practicality, reliability and quality. The metering is very good and the cameras have a unique mirror lockup via the self-timer which I used most of the time for macro and landscape shots to reduce vibration and get a really sharp picture. The only reason I am selling it is because I have recently taken a career break and need the money more than I need the cameras and won't have time for holidays for quite a while - basically it is a kit which I could happily have kept forever knowing that when I get them out of the bag, everything will work just as it did the previous year - no complicated electronics to fail, no hidden menus so that you forget how to use it and have to carry an instruction manual with you every time you want to take a nice photograph! The only thing which has let me down is the motordrive - not just this one, but another one I had years ago, which could be temperamental when it hadn't been used for a while and I put down to oxidised battery contacts. Apart from the metering, the cameras are completely battery-independent, which is a great asset in terms of reliability and at low temperatures. Replacement batteries are tiny, cheap LR44s and last at least a year or two with normal use because all they power is the metering circuit. I can show you transparencies taken on both bodies this year. The Sigma lens is so good that after I had sold it to a friend years ago I bought it back from him - I did much of a big documentary exhibition of 16" x 12" and 20" x 16" prints using this lens. I am also including a 50mm f1.4 Nikkor which I mistakenly took apart to clean and lubricate and couldn't then remember how to put it back together again - a simple job which takes a couple of minutes when you know how things should be! Sorry, for this amount and quality of equipment I'm not open to offers and the only thing which I may consider selling separately is the 180mm f2.8 ED because it is a lovely, very expensive lens but not one I can use much owing to shaky hands, liking slow transparency film and not wanting to carry a heavy tripod everywhere I go. I don't have a handy means of photographing the equipment for this ad, but you won't be disappointed with the condition.
