H& S Auditor
Role Objective:
Compile suitable audit question sets to challenge the business areas on the relevant topic to confirm compliance with the relevant legislation and Company Standards
Identifying areas of concern within the business and writing audit reports with suitable audit recommendations
Liaison with the H&S Performance team to assist in identification of areas of concern requiring an audit e.g. incident records
Key Accountabilities:
Research into H&S audit areas and devise suitable question sets, assist the Snr H&S Auditor in programming the audit activities to ensure the audits are delivered within the required timescale
Carry out H&S audits in conjunction with other members of the safety audit team
Training locally coach audited participants where appropriate to move them into compliance particularly where failure to do so would increase the likelihood of an accident or an injury
Input into development of H&S Standards using safety audit findings via the H&S Standards Steering Group and/or H&S Standards Advisor
Experience:
A good general understanding of the water industry or utility companies.
An excellent knowledge of the H&S legislation and Company standards
Safety Professional background essential
Auditing experience useful
Capabilities:
Data analysis, interpretation and presentation – high level.
Communication skills: The role holder must have excellent written and verbal communication skills due to the report writing requirements and personal interactions with a range of individuals across the Company. The ability to influence others is important in this role to effect change.
Clear Thinking - assimilates key data and draws out key issues, and can explain clearly what they mean.
Smart influencing - understand people & networks and how to work within culture
Qualifications:
Hold or be working towards OHSIS 18001 auditor qualification.
Hold or be working towards NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), Chartered Membership of IOSH is beneficial.
