Main Purpose of Role

Working in the commercial team the Estimator will work under the guidance of the target cost manager and will be responsible for estimating cost associated with the mains replacement programme which covers approximately 420km of replacement per year at a cost of c£60m.
The role will involve collaborative working with operations and design to improve the accuracy of estimates through utilising information from surveys, experience and local knowledge.

Role and Responsibilities

Preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for low and medium pressure mains replacement and associated work.
Preparation of cost estimates for client materials associated with above works.
Preparation of estimates for project changes including potential compensation events.
Close liaison with designers, investigation and operations teams in costing process
Costing of different design options.
Presentation of target cost to client at review and challenge sessions.


Skills and Experience Required

To apply for this role you must have significant estimating experience within a utilities contractor (Water, Gas or Electric industries).
Graduate calibre with a degree in Engineering or another relevant discipline.
Preferably Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant institution.
Strong IT skills, including good knowledge MS Office.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good organisational skills, good record keeping together with the ability to prioritise work.
Experience in using Conquest or a similar estimating system.
Practical knowledge of safe ways of working.
Practised in quantification and experienced with standard methods of measurement.
Hold a full, clean UK driving license.
