Job Title: Personal Assistant / Carer.
Hours: 0-5 hours per week
You will be required to support this family for 0-5 hours per week, it will be necessary to request that you are flexible with your hours depending on the families needs. Hours are envisaged to be used during the weekends during school term time and during weekdays during school holidays. This is flexible and variable depending on your employers needs.
Job Purpose: Parents are seeking support with their plans to extend and develop the support and activities for their disabled daughter; this will involve time accessing community facilities as well as the home environment. It is important to allow this young girl to access many different social settings to allow her to continue to develop social skills.
RATE OF PAY: £7.50 per hour at all times.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer ( parent ).
MAIN TASKS:
The post requires a very special person who will offer the appropriate level of support, to enable her to enjoy activities and promote her development into adulthood. This little girl uses a wheel chair and is unable to weight bear. She can crawl but needs to be supervised constantly. Experience in moving and handling would be an advantage however training can be provided.
You will be required to play and be involved in activities that this child enjoys. This currently includes swimming, reading, imaginative play, cooking/baking, music, visiting library & using the internet.
The position may require you to assist in activities outside the home, allowing this child to access the activities of her or her parent’s choice.
Assist with care tasks, helping / making snacks and drinks as required.
Assistance with personal care needs is required whilst demonstrating respect for this child’s dignity. This child wears incontinence pads and will need changing regularly. Protective clothing will be available.
Assist with encouraging this child to make choices at any opportunity. She is able to communicate verbally.
Plan and arrange activities for this little girl to access, it is important that you are able to motivate and encourage.
Feedback any information you feel is of interest to the parents regarding this child’s health and wellbeing.
Be aware of procedures for accessing additional support should it be required.
To carry out other duties or activities connected with the role which the employer may reasonably request.
Demonstrate an understanding and have a positive attitude towards a young person with a disability.
Demonstrate an awareness of safeguarding practices in relation to children and vulnerable people.
Have knowledge of equal opportunities.
