Café manager at The Refectory at St Davids
A great opportunity to run a delicious and unique café in one of the most beautiful parts of Britain.

This is a job for a hands-on person who loves good home-made food and quick and friendly service. We want a great team leader.

The manager will have full day-to-day responsibility for the Refectory including managing staff, food production (with the assistance of the head cook), customer relations, private parties, equipment maintenance and all matters relating to health, safety and food hygiene. Cooking experience is an advantage but not essential. Good team leadership skills are essential.

Salary: £18-22,000 p.a. depending on experience. This is a permanent full-time job.

Our business

The refectory is run as a franchise under the overall control of Bill’s Cafes Ltd, a small group of high quality cafes run by Bill Sewell. The other cafes in the group are Café @ All Saints, Hereford; The Place Below at St Mary-le-Bow church in London and (from October 2008) Michaelhouse Café in Cambridge. All of Bill’s Cafes specialise in fresh high quality home-made food served simply in beautiful places.

The Refectory

The Refectory is a 100-cover cafe in a stunningly re-ordered medieval hall with a modern mezzanine in the re-created cloisters at St Davids Cathedral. We opened in 2006 and have been enthusiastically welcomed by both customers and food critics. Remarkably for a counter-service café, we are listed in the 2008 Good Food Guide.

The Refectory is open 364 days per year. Mostly this is lunchtimes only, but from the beginning of June until the end of September we are open in the evenings as well.
