Bookseller/Retail Assistant
Part-time - 20 hours over 5 days, Mondays to Fridays
Starting Salary: £6,052.80 per annum

John Smith & Son is one of the UK’s leading brands in Academic bookselling, and we are currently seeking a Bookseller/Retail Assistant to join the team at our new on-campus bookshop at the University of Wolverhampton.

This role requires an enthusiastic, energetic, flexible and conscientious individual with the confidence to succeed. The successful applicant will be a natural team player and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ensuring that our customers receive an exemplary standard of service at all times.

As part of a small team, the successful applicant must be flexible in their approach to both the activities undertaken and the hours of work, and will have a positive 'can-do' attitude and general willingness to 'get stuck in'. Duties will include serving customers, merchandising and display, goods-in and general administration, as well as helping to quickly establish a close working relationship with the university and its lecturers.

Previous experience in a customer service role is essential, although this need not be in retail if the right transferable skills can be demonstrated. Previous experience within a bookselling environment or within further or higher education would be an advantage.

The ability to provide previous, up-to-date, professional references will also be essential given the level of trust that will be placed in this position.
