The main aim is to help people who have physical, mental health or social problems to adapt to any aspect of their life with more independence, confidence and control.As an Occupational Therapist you will be working in an Orthopedic setting, which will consist of assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients.
Treatments will include client education through discussion, demonstration, active participation and visual aids.
To review treatment periodically, evaluate progress and modify the treatment as appropriate.
Liaising with a wide variety of other professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, voluntary workers and equipment suppliers, as well as patients' families, carers and employers
Organising support and rehabilitation groups for carers and clients
To ensure patients are cared for appropriately, giving consideration to everyday activities such as washing, preparing and eating meals, shopping and mobility
Assist people suffering from mental health problems, including depression, to return to work
Help people with severe physical disabilities, whether congenital or resulting from brain or spinal injuries or a stroke or heart disease
Coach people with learning difficulties or poor social skills, e.g. in handling money and social interaction
Qualifications
5 GCSE passes (or equivalent), and two at A Level – At least one science subject must be passed with preference for biology
Have successfully completed validated access courses, BTEC National Diploma/Certificates, NVQs AND GNVQs or Degree level.
State registered with the Health Professional Council and adhere to the Occupational Therapists code of Conduct
This role offers flexible hours but is not a full time post. Salary is pro-rata of £26,000 to £30,000
