It Systems Administrator Technician
Location: Telford based, but working across Telford and Greenwich London locations
Salary: £25k to £27k p.a. gross
We require an IT Systems Administrator / Technician for our established and growing company in the Music Media manufacture industry.
The role will be based at our manufacturing site in Telford, and covers the IT administration and development for the entire company across both sites – Telford and Greenwich, London.
Regular travel between the two sites will be required, and occasionally overnight stays in London might be required.
Ideally we are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Microsoft Systems Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience to provide IT support for our user base and develop the organization’s IT strategy to meet business requirements.
Key Technical Skillls / Experience Required:
- MCSE, CCNA preferred with a good “hands-on” knowledge of Microsoft technologies and Cisco PIX firewalls.
- Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008, DNS,FTP, Active Directory
- Knowledge of the IBM AS400 manufacturing system, including “Bartender” module (preferable)
- Knowledge of the BPCS manufacturing financial system (preferable)
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007 and IBM Lotus Notes Database/Email Servers
- Terminal Services / Citrix Access Gateway (CAG)
- SQL Server 2000, 2005
- MS Access database, VBA/Visual Basic 6, SQL, MS Office
- SMILE, JAVA, Veritas Backup Exec backup software
- Experience of running IT projects
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing IT projects such as the imminent email server migration from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange, and future systems migration/integration.
- To ensure the smooth running and development of the companies’ Microsoft Windows servers, and ensuring all systems are backed up correctly and updated to the latest Microsoft security releases.
- To provide desktop / helpdesk support to ensure the smooth running of all PC’s and Macs
- To ensure the smooth running and development of the network infrastructure, including cabling and signal devices.
- To ensure the smooth running and upgrade of all applications, specifically the AS400 manufacturing system and Access database.
- To supply technical support in the development of any of the above.
- To ensure system security levels are sufficient, documented and maintained.
- To ensure data back-up procedures meet the requirements of the business and are completed regularly.
- To ensure the smooth running of all IT peripherals - i.e. barcode devices, printers, radio receivers etc.
- To identify new hardware and software requirements, plus the procurement and installation thereof.
- Maintenance of the telephone system i.e. new user setups, maintaining network IP link between the two sites using Cisco PIX firewalls; plus involving third party support as and when required
- Assisting in the maintenance of company websites and ensuring that sites are suitably hosted.
- To ensure full documentation of the IT system procedures are available
