Ecological Administrator
We are currently recruiting for an Ecological Administrator in the Worcester region. This is an office only based post supporting the field survey team dealing with the flow of technical work, contracts control and enquiries that emanate from the ecological BREEAM work.
- Work will include
- Helping with reading/quality control of our technical reports.
- Protected species licence applications,
- Biological record keeping/systematics,
- Third party data "trawls",
- Generally supporting our Science Team
- Giving technical assistance to the General Office and liaising with clients.
The emphasis will be on office based work rather than field work (although there may be the occasional need to travel to a survey location).
This person would need to have:
1. a sound knowledge of the British fauna and flora, including classification and taxonomy, with at least baseline, Phase 1 and NVC (Phase 2) ecological survey experience.
2. comprehensive and current knowledge of local & national UK planning regulations/process, UK/European wildlife law and licensing procedures as applicable both to habitats/sites (SSSIs, SACs, SINCs, etc.) and protected species (especially bats, birds great crested newt, grass snake, common lizard, slow-worm, common dormouse, otter, water vole and badger).
3. familiarity with the Biodiversity Action Plan process, Biological Recording and using internet-based information services such as Magic and the NBN.
4. Familiarity with the ecological assessment aspects of BREEAM and the calculation of credits.
5. impeccable written and spoken English, and a very solid grounding in chemistry, physics, biology and maths, plus the ability to write and edit technical ecological reports.
6. computer literacy and familiarity with office programs, especially MS Office 2007 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point, Publisher).
The role will suit individuals currently working as Ecologists or Ecological Administrators and living within a commutable distance of Worcester or willing to relocate.
